If traveling, how soon should I take my test before I leave?
Requirements vary from 48 to 72 hours. Be sure to check with your destination. Getting tested too early or too late, or getting the wrong type of test, may result in needing to self-quarantine at your destination.
Which vaccines have been FDA approved for COVID-19?
FDA has issued full approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for ages 5+.
The previously issued Emergency Use Authorizations (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for those ages 12 to 15 and third doses for the immunocompromised, as well as EUAs for COVID-19 vaccines manufactured by Moderna and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen, remain in effect.
Do I need an appointment for testing?
No appointments needed. Walk-ins are accepted but expect some waiting time.
Who qualifies for a booster shot?
As per CDC guidelines:
People 65 years and older, 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions, or 18 years and older who live in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot.
People 18 years and older should receive a booster shot at least 2 months after receiving their Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.
Is there an out-of-pocket cost for testing patients with insurance?
Patients with insurance are mostly covered fully for COVID-19 test, but we can check with your health plan to confirm before scheduling a test. If you have health insurance, please bring the card with you.
Is the booster covered by insurance?
Yes, the booster is available at no cost to any eligible patient either through insurance or a federal program for the uninsured.
Is there an out-of-pocket cost for patients without insurance?
If you do not have insurance, we will ask you for your Social Security number (card not needed), driver’s license or state ID to submit the cost of your test to the federal program for the uninsured. If you do not have insurance and are using the federal program for the uninsured to cover your COVID-19 test, the in-clinic visit will be covered at no additional cost to you; however, any additional point of care lab testing will not be covered under the uninsured fund.
What kind of side effects should people expect from the COVID-19 vaccine?
According to the CDC, you may have some side effects following the COVID-19 vaccine, which are normal signs that your body is building protection. Common side effects include pain and swelling on the arm where you got the shot, and fever, chills, tiredness and headache throughout the rest of your body.
